The employment relationship is, by its nature, a finite one. There will come a time either at the employee initiative, for reasons such as a new job opportunity, relocation, retirement, caring responsibilities, or personal circumstances; or the employer’s wishes to terminate the relationship, either by mutual agreement or through a dismissal process.
This topic section covers the provisions around notice periods that apply when one party ends the employment relationship, as well as looking at specific HR issues that may arise in relation to resignations, terminations (by dismissal or mutual agreement), retirements, or in the sad situation of an employee dying in service.
Resources are available in each sub section to support school leaders.
